01/02/2010 - Vet Updates!
Thank you so much for all your concern!!! We spent $181 on worming, shots, and testing this weekend and there is much more in our future. We also were vet recommended to start her on special food that is about $50 for a weeks worth of food. The vet said to expect about 4 months before improvement in weight and started her on antibiotics. we also have a appointment to meet with a puppy cardiac vet because the vet believes she might have a heart problem. The vet said she expects a full recovery. Other then her weight issue, many skin infections due to pressure ulcers and having these open wounds and then laying her her own urine in her kennel, and then many worn down and broken teeth from trying to chew through her kennel she is in surprisingly in good shape.
Everyday we are overwhelmed by her trusting nature. We have gone to meet so many people who have been intereted in her and her story and she treats them all as if she understands what they are doing for her. She is constantly wagging her tail and "smiling".
Our vet said they are more then willing to confirm Bella Hope's condition and status for those who would like to make donations but legally can not accept direct donations to their pet hospital.
Thank everyone again and God bless you and your families!!!!!
Hope Floats
Hope is a 3yr old boxer. She was rescued just in time. She was being kept in a kennel two sizes too small except when she was left out in the cold. She was severely underfed almost to starvation. Because of her lack of muscle tone and living conditions she developed painful skin ulcers and sores, and many scars. Hope has been so neglected from such a young age her growth was stunted, leaving her half the size she should be. She is believed to have had many broken bones that went untreated causing her to favor her back leg and still have sore spots. Despite the harsh abuse Hope has seen she maintains a spirited personality and gentle nature. Vets believe she could make a full recovery with enough time and care, and of course extreme medical bills.
We are asking for any and all support we can get for Hope. After all she has been through she deserves a chance at a real life and to be loved. Anything including food, treats, supplies, vet donations and advice are life saving for Hope at this point. I would love to bring Hope to meet anyone who is interested in her.
Once Hope is fully recovered it is already in motion that she join the dog therapy group for Alegent health. This will be Hopes way of giving back to the community that saved her life. And hopefully her story can help keep others strong.
Thank everyone who has taken a interest in Hope's story and God bless!!!
